Whether you are an active go-getter, volunteer, accountant or fun-loving person, chances are, you have or will experience psychological trauma in your lifetime. Psychological trauma usually comes with crippling symptoms such as flashbacks, negative thinking, nightmares, and isolation that interfere with the joy of daily life. The good news is that even with pieces of your life missing, and after struggling with highly challenging, stressful life circumstances, you can still grow and thrive. Mindfulness and other psychological interventions are effective in promoting positive psychological change and preventing many long-term effects.
However, trauma can affect people of all ages. A significant percentage of trauma originates in childhood. Children, before the age of five, are especially vulnerable because by nature, their brain frequency is at the very impressionable theta range, and they are unable to understand themselves or the world in which they live. Children must rely greatly on their caregivers who are sometimes not equipped to be parents, are impatient, or have mental issues of their own.
Studies have found that sufferers of trauma with resources such as a stable, agreeable, and positive personality, along with positive perceptions, and an open mind are better equipped to use cognitive strategies which lead to more successful posttraumatic growth and more able to adapt to a new and unexpected reality. In addition, individuals with a high desire to work through their challenges tend to be more mindful and self-disciplined, pursuing goals with high resolve, which also encourages posttraumatic growth.
The goals of posttraumatic growth are to achieve a set of positive changes in relations with others, self-perception, and existential beliefs in the form of greater appreciation of life and openness to spirituality. These goals can result from mindful attempts such as positive thinking, meditation, and specially designed imagery, for dealing with an experienced traumatic or highly stressful life event. These tools and techniques are basic components of the Silva Method.

MEDITATION #1
THE OBSERVER
In this mindfulness meditation you can help train yourself to recognize your thoughts as they appear and get unstuck from a vicious cycle of negative thinking associated to trauma that results in Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. You will learn how to apply two new techniques: the CEASE Technique and The Permission Granted Technique.
MEDITATION #2
THE THEATER TECHNIQUE
This version of The Theater Technique is a variation of Richard Bandler, co-founder of Neuro Linguistic Programming. He developed the process that has been adapted for this Silva meditation to help in safely confronting phobias and fears by disassociating and reframing their experience.
MEDITATION #3
EYE ERASER TECHNIQUE
The goal of the Eye Eraser Technique is to process a traumatic event so that is does not derail your life. This technique is a variation of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing or EMDR Therapy. It has been modified to fit the Silva format, has been used to work through difficult feelings and gets you back on the right track.
