We all know that a positive attitude makes us (and everyone around us) feel better than a negative attitude. So why is it that we seem magnetically drawn to the downers in life? Why are we attracted to drama, violence, fear and anger? It seems that negativity is more compelling than positivity. But the problem is, that negativity attracts more negativity and inevitably results in less than desirable life circumstances. If you go through life complaining and blaming, your negative vibe affects people around you, and you are much less likely to get what you want out of life than people who maintain a positive attitude.

Choosing a Positive Attitude
Happiness is a choice. A positive attitude comes from being happy, and happiness comes from within. You can choose to be happy. Yes! Happiness is a choice! Positive attitudes are chosen, not created by external circumstances! Otherwise, how would you explain the many dysfunctional, miserable multi-millionaires who “have it all” and should by all rights be very happy, but end up in rehab more often than not? Choosing happiness is not always easy, but it is always an option no matter what the situation. How?
Step one to creating a positive attitude: Change your perspective. Look at every situation differently than you’re used to. Look for the good. Look for the lessons. Look for the hidden benefits. Look at your own part in creating the situation instead of judging, blaming and criticizing. The easiest way to change your perspective is to be grateful. Yes, be grateful for the struggles and difficulties and all the little annoyances in life. Your perspective will change the instant you can see the good in any situation. Learn to find reasons to appreciate instead of to criticize.
Step two: Smile. Whenever you’re feeling bad, take a few minutes, lock yourself in the bathroom, look at yourself in the mirror and smile at yourself. Hold that smile and slowly feel the bad emotions melt away. Hold that smile until you mean it. Chances are you’ll make yourself giggle before you consciously decide that it’s time to dump the blues and be happy!
Step three: Surround yourself with positive people… those who smile often, laugh out loud, have fun and love life. It can be hard and painful to distance yourself from the negative people, but you’ll be glad you did. Use the Silva Intuition System to enhance your ability to discern the energetic quality or aura of the people in your life – and distance yourself from all ‘positive energy vampires’ and people to whom drama and depression are the norm. You might not be consciously aware of peoples’ negativity. Becoming attuned to it using your intuition will help.
Step Four: Speak lovingly and kindly to and about others, and to and about yourself. Who’s your best friend? YOU! Don’t speak unkindly to and about your best friend. Use the Silva visioning exercises to see yourself in a positive light. This takes some training, if you’re used to putting yourself down. Your self-deprecating put-downs are unconscious – you would never consciously talk to yourself this way but over the years, you may become so accustomed to unconscious negativity that it becomes part of you. Self-reprogramming a positive attitude will make being nice to yourself a valuable mental habit that encourages you to go for your dreams.
