Q: Could somebody be putting negative thoughts into my head? I keep getting a lot of negative thoughts, and feel a lot of stress. I am looking for work, and I am staying positive, except when these thoughts come. Could they be using laser beams, from satellites or something?

A: There is no way anyone can force a thought into your consciousness subjectively, from a distance. Force can only be used in the physical dimension. Otherwise, it is entirely up to you to accept or reject whatever is out there.

Remember that there are two kinds of energy: physical and spiritual. Only one kind can hurt: the physical energy.

It is possible, perhaps, to use radio waves, modulated by a human brain, to beam “thoughts” to people. This is a form of physical energy, because it uses the physical medium of radio waves as a carrier. But even if this were happening from satellites, do you think you would be the only person affected? If that were happening, it would not be selective for only one person. More of us would sense it, and since that is not happening, we can rule that out.

By the way, the statements in the Silva Method about negative thoughts and suggestions not having any influence on you give you the tools to successfully resist that kind of assault if it should ever come.

Your problem sounds like stress. You are trying to stay positive, but the more you try, the more you think the negative thoughts. This is because, in the realm of the mind, like attracts like. You cannot force a thought away, because when you try to fight it, you are thinking about it, and the more you think about it, the stronger it becomes.

The only way to get rid of a thought you do not want is to replace it with another thought. Mental energy is an “attractive” force; it attracts energy.

Anything you dwell on, whether in a positive or in a negative way, will grow. So do not dwell on the negative thoughts and trying to get rid of them. Instead, think some positive thoughts.

You can program yourself, at your level, so that whenever you start thinking negative thoughts, this will serve as a “trigger mechanism” to remind you to take a deep breath, and as you exhale, relax, and think of some pleasant scene or activity. For instance, you could think about taking your family to the lake for a picnic. Besides being a pleasant thought, this will also be good programming.

At your level, state the problem, that you have the negative thoughts, and that you do not want these negative thoughts, you do not need them. You do not have to have them. Instead, you want to have only positive thoughts. Program that the deep breath will help you to relax and to think of the positive thoughts.

You also need to practice the long relaxation exercise daily until you get the stress under control and feel more comfortable about everything.
